Hack reveals Belarusian security services wiretapping diplomats
June 22, BPN. Belarusian hacktivist group Cyberpartizans has published recordings of telephone conversations of the Chinese and Uzbek diplomatic missions’ staff, Belsat TV reported on June 21.
It quoted the group as saying that Belarus’ security services were collecting information even about friendly nations’ diplomats.
“In countries that comply with international conventions, the phones of foreign embassies are blacklisted for wiretapping. But under tyranny and lawlessness, anyone can be recorded,” the group said.
Belsat TV recalled that Cyberpartizans had published similar conversations with Russian embassy and consulate staff members.
The recordings became available as a result of hacking into the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ classified servers, the website added.
