Łukašenka asks Chinese premier for “great tech influx” to Belarus
August 22, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka asked China’s Premier Li Qiang to set a “great tech influx” to Belarus as the key goal until 2030, the Belarusian leader’s press office reported.
Łukašenka said 27 strategic industrial projects worth more than $5 billion had been implemented with China’s support over 17 years.
Belarusians and their Chinese partners are drafting 15 new strategic investment projects worth up to $3 billion, he said.
He announced the signing of a Belarusian-Chinese agreement on a free trade zone for services and investment, noting that Belarus will be the first Eurasian Economic Union country to make such a deal with China.
The government expects that transparent and predictable rules will boost Belarus’ service exports to China by at least 30 percent, according to Łukašenka’s website.
Li is visiting Belarus on August 22-23. The Chinese premier traveled to Minsk from Moscow, where he had talks with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin and President Vladimir Putin.
Last year, Łukašenka visited China twice and met with its leader.
He stayed there from February 28 to March 2 and on December 3 and 4.
His talks with the Chinese leader touched on a wide range of topics, including economy and international relations.
