Łukašenka promises visa waiver to Pakistan’s PM

November 26, Pozirk. Belarus and Pakistan will consider a visa waiver, Alaksandar Łukašenka has said, following today’s talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad.
“We heard you about the visa-free travel. The foreign minister knows our policy very well. I think we won’t have any problems here,” the Belarusian ruler’s press office quoted him as saying.
Minsk is “very interested” in Pakistan’s proposal “on the transport corridor, especially now,” he added.
Łukašenka’s three-day visit to Islamabad has reportedly helped negotiate dozens of bilateral documents, including an intergovernmental agreement on international road transportation of passengers and cargoes, exempting carriers from customs duties, taxes and fees.
Currently, Pakistani nationals can travel visa-free to Belarus only via the Minsk airport provided they have multiple entry Schengen visas and flight bookings that confirm their departure from Belarus.
Since 2021, many Pakistanis have been trying to cross illegally into the European Union via Belarus along with other third-country foreigners. Rights groups recorded 116 deaths among illegal migrants, including Pakistani nationals.
