Łukašenka wants Oreshnik missiles in Belarus
November 28, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has offered the Russians to deploy Oreshnik ballistic missiles to Belarus during an interview in Kazakhstan.
Speaking to Russian journalists on the sidelines of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit about Oreshnik’s impact on the security of the Union State, the Belarusian ruler said: “The sites are ready for deployment. When?” He added that Russia will consider his proposal.
According to a video posted on pro-Kremlin Telegram channels, Łukašenka said the missile is good and “comparable to nuclear weapons in its power,” but “without the penetrating radiation and the contamination of terrain and facilities.”
Speaking at the CSTO Council today, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that his generals were discussing targets in Ukraine to be hit with Oreshniks. The targets could include “decision-making centers in Kyiv,” he suggested. Putin noted that in the event of a massive launch of these missiles, the strike would be as powerful as a nuclear one.
In the morning of November 21, Russia struck the city of Dnipro, home to Pivdenmash, a factory that manufactures rocket, space and other equipment. Putin later claimed that the Russian army used a non-nuclear ballistic missile called Oreshnik for the strike. He claimed that there is no way to intercept it.
Minsk supports Moscow in its full-scale war against Ukraine.
